About

Amanda Sandlin is a painter, ceramist, and writer in Seattle.

Statement

I am fascinated by and curious about time, personally experienced as fragmented and flexible. It bends through dreams, meditation, and interior states. In my paintings, the figure is guardian-like, time-traveling with purpose but not a singular mission. Rather, her pursuit is emotional and psychic in nature — gathering and transmuting information from one time period to another, often oriented toward future imagining. The question I continually return to in my practice is, can a painting be a portal?
