many people ask why i rarely draw women's faces. once you see someone's face they become separate from you. they become 'them'. by keeping my drawings somewhat anonymous we can see each of ourselves in them, sort of as a way to transport to a different time, place, and energy. 

and why hair? as a woman with wild, curly hair i know the feeling of trying to keep it tame — to flatten it or keep it back in a ponytail. there will be a moment driving with the windows down or walking up a mountain where i surrender to the elements and give in to the fly-aways. it always feels like a release. i aim to capture those moments again and again.
